MILL RACE MARATHON OFFERS PLENTY MORE
The Mill Race Marathon is just about 24-hours away, and organizers and participants are ready for the huge event. A complete list of roads affected by the event are listed at Columbus.in.gov. After the race, downtown Columbus will transform into a festival area. The family-friendly zone includes a rock wall, bungee jump and face painting for kids. Adults can look forward to plenty, too, including a zip-line. Bartholomew County Beverage will set up the “Michelob Ultra Lounge” at Fifth and Washington streets. The “ultra-lounge” features Anheuser-Busch products and a full bar. At least 20 food vendors will offer tasty treats, and live music will take over three stages from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. At 3 p.m., the music will stop, and organizers will draw the winner of the "Fitness Award" for a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram truck. Columbus police are ready for the event, too. Chief Jason Maddix says a full complement of officers will be assisted by Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputies, a bomb squad and a SWAT team.
