2013 CORN YIELDS APPROACH RECORD LEVELS
A wet spring and cool summer were near perfect conditions for Hoosier farmers this year. Purdue agronomist Chris Hurt expects corn yields to average about 166 bushels per acre. The increased yields will push more idled grain storage capacity into operation. The average is very close to the 171 bushels per acre record set four years ago. Indiana’s soybean crop isn’t as fortunate but still above 2012 drought stressed totals.
